Motorola has announced four new Moto G series smartphones – the Moto G67, Moto G77, Moto G17, and Moto G17 Power. We’ve covered the Moto G67 and Moto G77 separately, so we’ll focus on the Moto G17 series in this post.

The Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power are basically the same phone with different amounts of RAM and storage, battery size, charging speed, and thickness.

The Motorola Moto G17 Power packs a 6,000 mAh battery with 30W charging support. It’s 8.8mm thick and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, expandable by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

The Moto G17, on the other hand, is 8.17mm thick and has a 5,200 mAh battery under the hood with 18W charging support. The smartphone comes with 4GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Both the Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power have the Helio G81 Extreme SoC under the hood and run the dated Android 15 OS out of the box, with no word from Motorola on how many OS upgrades these phones will receive. Motorola has said the Moto G17 will receive security updates until February 2028, and it remains to be seen whether the G17 Power will also receive security patches for that duration.

The Moto G17 pair is built around a 6.72″ 60Hz FullHD+ LCD having 1,050 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Both smartphones feature a 32MP selfie camera on the front, and around the back is a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 primary camera, joined by a 5MP ultrawide camera. The back panels of both smartphones have a vegan leather finish.

The rest of the highlights of the Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, NFC, a dedicated microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP64 rating, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
