Sweden said Wednesday that a pro-Russian group with links to Russia’s security and intelligence services was behind a cyberattack on a heating plant last year. The announcement followed warnings from officials in Poland, Norway, Denmark and Latvia that Russia is attacking critical infrastructure across Europe. In what was Sweden’s first public mention of the attack, the country’s minister for civil defense, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, said it targeted a heating plant in western Sweden but the attack failed. He gave no further details. Bohlin compared it to incidents in Poland in December, when coordinated cyberattacks hit combined heat and power plants supplying…

Automation doesn’t fail on its own — it does exactly what it’s trained to do. The problem is that when Google Ads is fed incomplete, misaligned, or overly broad signals, it can optimize toward the wrong outcome faster than most advertisers realize. In our second installment of SMX Now, our new monthly series, Ameet Khabra of Hop Skip Media will break down a real account where a 417% jump in conversions turned out to be the wrong kind of success. She’ll use that case study to explain the four key ways automation drift enters an account: signal drift, query drift,…

Edgar Cervantes / Android AuthorityTL;DR YouTube’s latest experiment is putting more posts in your Shorts feed. In addition to posts, look for image carousels featuring up to 10 pics. Not everyone will be seeing these experimental changes on their account. YouTube may still be the internet’s top destination for original video content, but in its two decades of existence it’s also grown to incorporate a whole lot of other kinds of media. In addition to stuff like games, YouTube also hosts posts: blog-like entries allowing creators to connect with their fans without needing to upload a whole new video. Now…

One aspect of the “AI revolution” keeping security professionals up at night is the continued prevalence of prompt injection attacks that enable exfiltration of sensitive data — even against dominant vendors like Microsoft and Salesforce.Capsule Security, a vendor that sells AI agent runtime security, published research today concerning prompt injection vulnerabilities involving Salesforce Agentforce and Microsoft Copilot. Although both vulnerabilities have been addressed, the research is a reminder that the prompt injection remains an unsolved problem for large language models (LLMs). In the case of the Salesforce flaw, which Capsule refers to as “PipeLeak,” an attacker could insert malicious instructions into…

We’ve all got used to the little numbered blue links in ChatGPT’s responses. They’re the citations that back up ChatGPT’s responses with external information. But, although ChatGPT crawls dozens of pages to answer a single query, according to our research, it only ends up citing ~50% of them. Why does one page get the credit while another, which the AI clearly retrieved, gets nothing?According to studies by AI expert Dan Petrovic, when ChatGPT retrieves results, each one comes back with the page title, a brief snippet or summary, the URL, and an ID number.ChatGPT uses this data to decide which pages are worth…

The aptly named Binge is a new app for iPhones, iPads, and Macs that has set its sights on Letterboxd. Like that popular movie-centric social media platform, Binge gives you a way to track what you’ve watched and what you want to watch. But whereas Letterboxd sticks mostly to movies, Binge covers both movies and TV shows, and adds “jump scare warnings,” an innovative feature Letterboxd can’t match (though in testing it out, I experienced mixed results).Keeping tabs on my viewing is something I very much need help with, and while I’ve had a Letterboxd account for a while, I…

Ravie LakshmananApr 15, 2026Web Security / Vulnerability A recently disclosed critical security flaw impacting nginx-ui, an open-source, web-based Nginx management tool, has come under active exploitation in the wild. The vulnerability in question is CVE-2026-33032 (CVSS score: 9.8), an authentication bypass vulnerability that enables threat actors to seize control of the Nginx service. It has been codenamed MCPwn by Pluto Security. “The nginx-ui MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration exposes two HTTP endpoints: /mcp and /mcp_message,” according to an advisory released by nginx-ui maintainers last month. “While /mcp requires both IP whitelisting and authentication (AuthRequired() middleware), the /mcp_message endpoint only applies IP whitelisting — and the…

Last year, after spending a few days at a work summit in Austria, I asked Perplexity for the latest news related to SEO and AI search. It responded with details about a supposed “September 2025 ‘Perspective’ Core Algorithm Update” that Google had just rolled out, emphasizing “deeper expertise” and “completion of the user journey.” It sounded plausible enough … if you don’t live and breathe Google core updates. Unfortunately for Perplexity, I do. I knew instantly that this information wasn’t right. For one, Google hasn’t named core updates in years. It also already had SERP features called “Perspectives.” And if…
