Summary Windows 11 previews a quick-settings dark mode toggle hidden in a new Energy Saver taskbar panel. Personally, when I install a new operating system, my first port of call is to find the dark mode button, hit it, and leave it like that until either I uninstall the OS or my computer dies. The new Google Pixel 10a makes a few compromises this year, perhaps the biggest being that it’s no longer powered by Google’s latest yearly flagship processor. Instead of the latest Tensor G5, the Pixel 10a settles for last year’s Tensor G4 processor. Those hoping for a bit more performance on a budget will no doubt be disappointed. To be fair to the 10a, the Tensor G4 was a flagship-tier processor (of sorts) just last year and is certainly no slouch for daily tasks. However, this means that the Pixel 10a is no faster than its predecessor, at least on paper. This…

Developers and analysts are using more AI tools to produce code and to test both the performance and security of the finished products. They are also embedding AI functionality in their products directly. But just how secure are these AI tools and routines themselves? Recent reports show they suffer from vulnerabilities just like any other code. For example, Google recently provided an update for CVE-2026-0628, associated with Gemini AI implemented in the Chrome browser. This elevation of privilege vulnerability, rated High with a CVSS of 8.8, was recently reported in detail by Palo Alto Networks security research team. Per Palo…

Deal pricing and availability subject to change after time of publication.High-refresh-rate gaming monitors are getting faster every year, but a 480Hz OLED panel still feels like a technical flex—and the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP is one such example. This 27-inch OLED gaming monitor is currently $662.36 on Amazon, down from its usual $799 price, and price trackers show that’s the lowest it has dropped so far. It sits in a very small group of monitors built around a 1440p panel with a 480Hz refresh rate, competing with models like…

I first had solar panels installed on my rooftop nearly a decade ago. I’ve moved since then and have had them installed on my new home as well. At this point, I’m now familiar with having panels installed and what it’s like using them. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way. The angle and direction of your roof matters more than you think Solar panels want to face south When we installed solar panels on our new home, we purchased a system that was slightly under twice the size of our first, but it ended up producing nearly two and…

A top Pentagon official said Anthropic’s dispute with the government over the use of its artificial intelligence technology in fully autonomous weapons came after a debate over how AI could be used in President Donald Trump’s future Golden Dome missile defense program, which aims to put U.S. weapons in space. U.S. Defense Undersecretary Emil Michael, the Pentagon’s chief technology officer, said he came to view the AI company’s ethical restrictions on the use of its chatbot Claude as an irrational obstacle as the U.S. military pursues giving greater autonomy to swarms of armed drones, underwater vehicles and other machines to…
