Has OpenAI’s increasing independence from Microsoft and, by extension, Bing, become an overly dependent relationship with Google? Our study comparing shopping query fan-outs (QFOs) in ChatGPT from both Google and Bing carousels appears to have provided at least a partial answer to that question. Let’s take a look at how this study was conceived and what we found. In November 2025, a few researchers in the AI research space, including myself, detected a mysterious field in ChatGPT’s source code: id_to_token_map. But what that field revealed when decoded was even more intriguing. This field is what’s called base64 encoded, but when…

A China-linked advanced persistent threat actor tracked as UAT-9244 has been targeting telecommunication service providers in South America since 2024, compromising Windows, Linux, and network-edge devices. According to Cisco Talos researchers, the adversary is closely associated with the FamousSparrow and Tropic Trooper hacker groups, but is tracked as a separate activity cluster. This assessment has high confidence and is based on similar tooling, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and victimology observed in attacks attributed to the threat actors. The researchers note that while UAT-9244 shares the same target profile as Salt Typhoon, they could not establish a solid connection between the two activity clusters. New malware…
Fintech in AI search plays by much stricter rules. Because it’s a Your Money or Your Life category, products must clear higher verification thresholds before AI mentions you: Is your product legitimate? Are your fees and protections explicit? Do other trusted sources back up your claims? To find these answers, AI draws from your website and the wider web — including sources you don’t control. That risks misrepresentation of your brand. What matters, then, is whether those sources tell an accurate story. In this article, I’ll explain how to influence that narrative. Because the real goal is for your fintech…

Despite Google apps and services being in a relatively complete state after years of iteration, the brand is never truly done, making small tweaks here and there as it sees fit. For the most part, this is a good thing, because you never know how a small change can make a huge improvement. With that said, Google is now rolling out a new update to its Pixel Weather app, which gives the weather icons a small pop of color. The change was spotted by Android Authority, and makes them easier to read. There’s even an explanation for the change, with…
However, the report said, development in more remote regions “will remain challenging” due to a shortage of skilled labor such as mechanics, electricians, plumbers, laborers and construction workers. Market shift from abundance to constrained Sanchit Vir Gogia, chief analyst at Greyhound Research, said Wednesday that enterprises must assume, as the report suggests, that there will be elevated pricing for North American data center capacity through at least 2029, and possibly longer. “Vacancy at or near 1%- 2% is not a temporary imbalance,” he said. It is a “signal that supply elasticity has broken. When over 90% of capacity under construction…
