If you’re someone that often faces buyer’s remorse, you might want to be careful where you get your next shiny smartphone from.
Buying a new device via your carrier of choice is one of the most popular means of procuring a new phone.
However, for those eyeing T-Mobile for their next purchase, make sure you really want the device that you’re buying because the carrier’s restocking fee just went up.
The carrier quietly updated its support documentation to highlight the increase, as spotted and pointed out by DroidLife.
Previously, T-Mobile customers were charged anywhere between $20 to $70 in restocking fees, depending on the full retail price of the device. Now, the same fee has been increased to $25 to $75.

- When returning a device to retail, you may be charged a $25 – $75 restocking fee depending on the full retail price of the device.
- This fee is charged in store at the time of return.
T-Mobile’s charging the most when it comes to restocking fee
As pointed out by Android Authority, T-Mobile’s fee is split into tiers. It’s $25 for devices under $500, $50 for devices between $300 and $599, and $75 for anything over $600.
Verizon, in comparison, charges a flat $50 restocking fee, while AT&T charges “up to” $55. So if you’re looking to pick up that new flagship, make sure you really (really) want it, because regardless of the carrier of your choice, restocking fees are real. T-Mobile users, just be extra sure about your purchase.
