Google is expanding Search Live to more than 200 countries and territories, bringing voice and camera conversations to AI Mode globally. The expansion is powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, a new audio model that Google calls its highest-quality yet. It’s inherently multilingual, so you can speak with Search in your preferred language without switching settings. Search Live was previously limited to the U.S. What’s Changing Search Live lets you talk to Google Search inside AI Mode instead of typing a query. You ask a question out loud and get an audio response, then continue with follow-ups. Web links appear…

Always on display, or AOD, has been with us now for over ten years, and it’s something I always turn off because I frankly think it’s one of the most wasteful and pointless features of modern phones (though you can customize it with themes). There’s a 10-15% hit to battery life while running AOD, no matter the phone (and on Samsung phones, it’s part of a suite of features you don’t need), but what’s even worse is that AOD is a pointless, distracting feature: why must your phone screen be on all time to persistently show you the clock and…

With a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 300 watts, the AGI CPU draw significantly less power than X86 based CPUs from Intel and AMD. It supports high-density 1U server chassis that allow air-cooled deployments with up to 8,160 cores per rack, and liquid-cooled systems delivering 45,000+ cores per rack. Meta serves as the lead partner and co-developer of the AGI CPU, optimizing it for its family of apps and working alongside Meta’s own custom silicon, called Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA), enabling more efficient orchestration in large-scale AI systems. Meta is hardly alone. Arm has confirmed additional commercial momentum…

Telecommunications providers around the world have been dealing with the burrowing efforts of the China-linked APTs for many years now. To help them identify hard-to-detect implants used by the China-based group dubbed Red Menshen, Rapid7 researchers have released a scanning script. BPFdoor US, Canadian, European and Asian telcos have been repeatedly hit by the infamous Salt Typhoon group in the past few years. Red Menshen has been previously observed using the BPFDoor implant/backdoor when targeting telecommunications providers across Asia and the Middle East, as well as organizations in the finance and retail sectors. Initial access is usually gained by exploiting…

A new report from 404 Media sheds light on how automated license plate readers (ALPRs) could be used beyond the press releases and glossy marketing materials put out by law enforcement agencies and ALPR vendors. In December 2025, Georgia State Patrol ticketed a motorcyclist for holding a cell phone in his hand. According to the report, the ticket read, “CAPTURED ON FLOCK CAMERA 31 MM 1 HOLDING PHONE IN LEFT HAND.”  If you’re thinking that this sounds outside of the scope of what ALPRs are supposed to do, you’re right. In November 2025, Flock Safety, the maker of the ALPR in…

The club learned about the security issues and their effect from journalists who were tipped off by the hacker. Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6 are easy recommendations, but they aren’t the best earbuds for everyone. I’ve been a fan of the Status Audio Pro X since they launched late last year, and right now, thanks to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, you can grab them for $50 off their original price. This means you can pick up one of the best-sounding earbuds on the market right now for just $249, which is about a 17% discount. Sure, even at this price, they are still quite expensive and nearly $80 more than the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which are down…

Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) on Wednesday rolled out a fresh round of BIND 9 updates to resolve four vulnerabilities, including two high-severity bugs. Tracked as CVE-2026-3104, the first high-severity flaw is described as a memory leak issue impacting code preparing DNSSEC proofs of non-existence. The security defect can be exploited via crafted domains to cause a memory leak in BIND resolvers. Authoritative servers may not be impacted, ISC notes in its advisory. “If a BIND resolver is asked to query a specially crafted domain, memory will not be recovered by named. This can cause unbounded growth of Resident Set Size…
