We review a ton of phones every year, but the ones that tend to get the most attention are often the ones that cost the most as well. But, mid-range and budget phones have gotten so much better over the past few years, making it possible to get something good that won’t hurt your wallet.

The Samsung Galaxy A36 isn’t one that’s going to shine on any list, simply because it’s a good phone with a $400 price tag. Now, it looks okay at a glance, but the competition in the budget and mid-range is just too fierce at this point, and you need to really deliver an excellent experience if you’re trying to charge $400.

    The price makes it nice

Of course, we wouldn’t be talking about this phone if it were $400. But right now, you can score a huge discount, with Amazon knocking it down to just $240, which is 40% off the original price. When it comes to the hardware, you’re getting a sleek design, along with a large 6.7-inch AMOLED screen.

It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip that’s paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You get a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging. It also has a triple camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro. The cherry on top is that it also comes with six years of software updates.

Now, what does this all mean in day-to-day use? Well, the phone will handle pretty much anything you throw at it, but we do wish that Samsung utilized more than just 6GB of RAM. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means at this price, so if you’ve been thinking about picking up a new phone for under $250, this one might be it.

The Samsung Galaxy A36 has officially landed. This budget-friendly phone packs a bright Super AMOLED display, a sharp 50MP main camera, and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip under the hood. But keep in mind—it only gets a trimmed-down version of Galaxy AI, not the full package.
