The Hacker NewsFeb 13, 2026Supply Chain Security / DevSecOps In December 2025, in response to the Sha1-Hulud incident, npm completed a major authentication overhaul intended to reduce supply-chain attacks. While the overhaul is a solid step forward, the changes don’t make npm projects immune from supply-chain attacks. npm is still susceptible to malware attacks – here’s what you need to know for a safer Node community. Let’s start with the original problem Historically, npm relied on classic tokens: long-lived, broadly scoped credentials that could persist indefinitely. If stolen, attackers could directly publish malicious versions to the author’s packages (no publicly…
There are two kinds of retail stores. Xiaomi tends to follow the traditional retail system; you walk into one of its stores, see the products available for purchase, and then head out. Apple stores tend to do things differently, and they’re centered around creating experiences instead of just selling products.Nothing wants to go one step beyond that with its store, delivering a 360-degree view of what the brand is all about. Nothing has a store in London, so the one that it just inaugurated in Bengaluru is technically its second retail store, but it is on another level entirely in…
The Dutch National Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Dordrecht as part of a cybercrime investigation by Team Cybercrime Oost-Brabant. The suspect is believed to have distributed a tool known as JokerOTP, a bot used to intercept one-time passwords (OTPs) used to secure online accounts and financial transactions. Police suspect the Dordrecht resident of selling the bot through a Telegram account and of holding license keys associated with it. This marks the third arrest in the investigation. Police arrested the developer and a co-developer of JokerOTP in April and August 2025. “Victims were automatically called by the bot, informing them…
Home > Piracy > South Korea’s copyright agency is recruiting 25 people to monitor foreign-language piracy sites for illegal copies of Korean movies, dramas, webtoons, and music. The work-from-home positions pay minimum wage, are open to applicants of any nationality, and list the ability to handle malware risks as a job requirement. Like most other countries, South Korea has a persistent piracy problem. Online streaming platforms in particular have flourished in recent years. While several large piracy platforms such as Noonoo and TVWIKI have been shut down, new threats continue to emerge. To deal with this problem, Korean rightsholders use…
SEO is moving out of the marketing silo into organizational design. Visibility now depends on how information is structured, validated, and aligned across the business. When information is fragmented or contradictory, visibility becomes unstable. The risk isn’t just ranking volatility – it’s losing control of how your brand is interpreted and cited. For SEO leaders, the choice is unavoidable: remain a channel optimizer or shape the systems that govern how your organization is understood and cited. That shift isn’t happening in a vacuum. AI systems now interpret, reconcile, and assemble information at scale. The visibility shift beyond rankings The future…

I’m not going to get to have the Acer Veriton GN100 for long, so this is more of a hands-on discussion than an actual review. My first reaction, out of the box, to the Acer Veriton GN100 is that it all seems remarkably familiar. An elegant mini-PC style case with a car-grill aesthetic, a selection of USB-C ports alongside a 10GbE LAN port and the mercurial NVIDIA ConnectX-7 SmartNIC.While it’s…
Relationship with OpenAI While much of the initial query, and subsequent ones, have focused on licensing and bundling, the FTC is also looking into the company’s relationship with OpenAI, and raising questions about Microsoft’s data centers, capacity constraints, and AI spending and research. Notably, the tech giant’s initial $1 billion investment in OpenAI has grown into a multi-billion-dollar partnership, with Microsoft rolling out ChatGPT-powered features across its product line in 2023. The FTC is examining whether the relationship is an undisclosed merger that should have been subject to antitrust review. Further, the federal agency is scrutinizing Microsoft’s alleged decision to…
South Korea has fined luxury fashion brands Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior Couture, and Tiffany $25 million for failing to implement adequate security measures, which facilitated unauthorized access and the exposure of data belonging to more than 5.5 million customers. All three brands are part of the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) group and suffered data breaches [1, 2, 3] after hackers gained access to their cloud-based customer management service. The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) in South Korea says that in the case of Louis Vuitton, an employee’s device was infected with malware, which led to compromising their software-as-a-service (SaaS) and…
