Mandiant says a wave of recent ShinyHunters SaaS data-theft attacks is being fueled by targeted voice phishing (vishing) attacks and company-branded phishing sites that steal single sign-on (SSO) credentials and multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes. As first reported by BleepingComputer, threat actors are impersonating corporate IT and helpdesk staff and calling employees directly, claiming that MFA settings need to be updated. During the call, the targeted employee is directed to a phishing site that resembles their company’s login portal. According to Okta, these sites are using advanced phishing kits that allow threat actors to display interactive dialogs while on the phone with…

The Hugging Face infrastructure has been abused for the delivery of an Android remote access trojan (RAT), Bitdefender reports. The attack chain starts with an ad or a prompt to download and install a security application claiming to provide multiple useful features. The application, called TrustBastion, acts as a dropper and immediately after launch prompts the user to fetch an update, displaying legitimate-looking Google Play and Android system update dialogs. Once the user agrees, the dropper connects to an encrypted endpoint hosted at trustbastion[.]com, which serves an HTML page that points to a Hugging Face repository, and then downloads a…

If you’ve been reading headlines and taken a peek at the prices for PC components right now, you know things aren’t ideal. RAM is unaffordable, storage costs are creeping higher, and, perhaps worst of all for PC gamers, GPU prices are back to being ridiculous. The surge of interest in AI from the market at large has dictated a shift in memory manufacturing, and unfortunately, gamers are the ones at the bottom of that totem pole. GPUs specifically are being impacted hard because of their use of GDDR memory, with a lot of current-gen cards surging up to or above…

Ravie LakshmananJan 31, 2026Social Engineering / SaaS Security Google-owned Mandiant on Friday said it identified an “expansion in threat activity” that uses tradecraft consistent with extortion-themed attacks orchestrated by a financially motivated hacking group known as ShinyHunters. The attacks leverage advanced voice phishing (aka vishing) and bogus credential harvesting sites mimicking targeted companies to gain unauthorized access to victim environments by collecting sign-on (SSO) credentials and multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes. The end goal of the attacks is to target cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications to siphon sensitive data and internal communications and extort victims. The tech giant’s threat intelligence team said…

Home > Piracy > In a massive international operation a week before the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Italian authorities have announced the dismantling of a global IPTV network. Dubbed “Operation Switch Off,” the action targeted key infrastructure and a hierarchy of resellers that allegedly served millions of users worldwide. No other country in Europe generates as much noise around physical anti-piracy crackdowns as Italy, where ‘boots-on-the-ground’ operations have become a regular occurrence. While the number of affected users doesn’t always seem to add up, it is clear that Italy can and is willing to take action, where…

For a long time, SEO had the simplest math in marketing: Rank higher → Get more traffic → Fill the sales pipeline To the dissatisfaction of marketing executives, that linear world is breaking fast. Between AI Overviews, zero-click SERPs, and users getting answers directly from LLMs, the old “rank to get traffic and leads” equation is failing.  Today, holding a top keyword position often yields significantly fewer clicks than it did just two years ago. This has forced many uncomfortable conversations in boardrooms. CMOs and CEOs are looking at traffic dashboards and asking tough questions, especially: “If traffic is down……

I’ve been using Google Maps for years. It’s my go-to app for navigating daily commutes, unfamiliar cities, and last-minute detours. It’s muscle memory at this point. But Waze has always had a reputation for offering smarter routes, real-time alerts, and a community that supposedly outsmarts Google’s algorithms. So, I figured it was time to find out what I was missing. Waze excels in several areas, and I see why many drivers rely on it. However, using it for a month made me realize just how much I’d been taking Google Maps for granted. Related Should Google kill off Waze? The…
