Google is back with yet another AI service—this time, an offline dictation program using its “Gemma” architecture. But rather than include it within the Gemini app, or as a Gemini function, the company has decided to roll it out into a dedicated iPhone app, with the very catchy name of “Google AI Edge Eloquent.” I decided to give the app a shot on release day, though the privacy policy gave me pause. Google says that your location, contacts, identifiers, device diagnostics, contact info, user content, usage data, and “other” data can be linked to you, while purchases and other diagnostics…

Online crime continues to generate rising financial losses, with totals reaching $20.877 billion in 2025. The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) report shows a 26% increase in total reported losses from the previous year. (Source: FBI) More than one million complaints were submitted during the year, with fraud accounting for the majority of losses. Cyber-enabled fraud totaled $17.7 billion, representing 85% of all reported financial damage. Complaint counts show a different pattern. Phishing or spoofing incidents recorded 191,561 complaints, the highest number of reports. Extortion incidents recorded 89,129 complaints. Investment scams recorded 72,984 complaints. “Since our founding reporting to…
Google is giving advertisers new visibility into whether its automated recommendations actually drive performance — a long-standing blind spot in the platform. What’s happening. A new “Results” tab within Recommendations shows the incremental impact of bidding and budget changes after they’ve been applied, allowing marketers to evaluate outcomes instead of relying on assumptions. How it works. The feature attributes performance changes to specific recommendations, helping advertisers understand what effect adjustments like budget increases or bid strategy shifts had on results. Why we care. Marketers can now validate whether recommendations improved performance, making it easier to decide which automated suggestions are…
The 2027 BMW i7 might not be a complete Neue Klasse overhaul like the iX3, but it could still represent a technological breakthrough. The German brand is partnering with Croatian supercar maker Rimac, specifically Rimac Technology, to bring its sixth-generation (Gen6) battery technology to the i7’s luxury sedan format. The implementation will meld BMW’s 4695 lithium-ion cylindrical cells with the existing fifth-generation (Gen5) module design. The move will provide 20 percent higher energy density, faster charging, and “significantly increased range,” according to BMW. The company isn’t providing updated figures at this stage. Rimac is manufacturing the batteries at its plant…
Encryption is often suggested as a way to address data sovereignty because the customer holds the key to protect data in motion, in use, and at rest. However, Buest noted, most regulators have not explicitly approved the use of encryption or other security measures or deemed them sufficient for compliance. There may soon be a development here, however. In fall 2025, the European Commission released The Cloud Sovereignty Framework (CSF), a mandatory reference document for procuring cloud services in the EU. The goal is to ensure that cloud services used in the EU are under European control and shielded from…
Content creators who are just starting to work for themselves think that the hardest part is earning money. In reality, the difficulties begin after the income is received, because the money needs to be properly distributed, invested, and not “eaten up” before the next month. This is usually where problems arise, since money can come from 2–3 sources but leave through 10, and in the end, it’s unclear where the income went. The problem is not laziness nor ambition. It’s just that income looks simpler than it actually is. One amount appears in the account, but it gradually decreases: platform…
The president is proposing to shrink the agency by nearly 900 positions.
Search is evolving in real time. A query that used to return a list of links now shows an AI-generated answer. Sometimes with your competitor’s name in it. Then users can ask follow-up questions — comparing options, weighing reviews, narrowing choices — all inside the search experience, before anyone visits your website. And the AI that delivers that experience is getting better at its job. (It’ll never be worse). It’s researching across sources, cross-referencing what you claim against what community forums and industry articles say about you, and, in some cases, taking action on the user’s behalf. This is agentic search. Here’s a…
Summers are right around the corner, and as a desktop owner myself, I am quite worried that my PC may run hot, especially the GPU, since most of my tasks are either gaming or video editing. Under load, high temperatures will impact performance and wear out components fast, and during times when PC components are at sky-high prices, you wouldn’t want to risk one of your most expensive buys. In many cases, a fix for an overheating GPU is a thermal paste replacement, but that might seem a bit daunting to many, as it is an intricate task that involves…
Over a dozen companies have suffered data theft attacks after a SaaS integration provider was breached and authentication tokens stolen. While numerous cloud storage and SaaS vendors were targeted using the stolen tokens, BleepingComputer has learned that the majority of the data theft attacks targeted the cloud-based data warehouse platform Snowflake. Snowflake confirmed “unusual activity” to BleepingComputer, stating that a small number of its customers were impacted. “We recently detected unusual activity within a small number of Snowflake customer accounts linked to a specific third-party integration,” Snowflake told BleepingComputer. “We immediately launched an investigation and, out of an abundance of caution,…
