There is a common expectation in SEO that needs to be challenged, and it usually appears as soon as a new agency or consultant takes over performance. Many businesses assume that fresh expertise should lead to quick wins, as if changing vendors resets everything and removes the issues that held performance back before. This view ignores how search works and overlooks the lasting impact of previous decisions. Quick wins can still exist, but they should be seen as small steps rather than complete solutions. Changes such as improving page titles, updating content, or fixing isolated issues can lead to short-term…

Running Windows from an external drive is one of those ideas that sounds more inconvenient than it’s worth. I assumed sluggish boot times and driver headaches would make it impractical for anything beyond a one-off experiment. So I wasn’t expecting much when I dropped a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD into an external enclosure that I normally use for fast file transfers and started using it as a secondary environment on my laptop. It held up better than I gave it credit for, with some caveats worth knowing before you try it yourself. Setting it up is trickier than installing Windows…

Hackers hijacked the update system for the Smart Slider 3 Pro plugin for WordPress and Joomla, and pushed a malicious version with multiple backdoors. The developer says that only the Pro version 3.5.1.35 of the plugin is affected and recommends switching immediately to the latest version, currently 3.5.1.36, or 3.5.1.34 and earlier. Apart from installing backdoors in multiple locations, the malicious update created a hidden user with administrator permissions and stole sensitive data. Smart Slider 3 for WordPress is used on over 900,000 websites for responsive slider creation via a live slider editor, featuring a large selection of layouts and designs. According…

After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. The math hasn’t worked out for a while now. The Numbers Aren’t Working Out We posted to Twitter (now known as X) five to ten times a day in 2018. Those tweets garnered somewhere between 50 and 100 million impressions per month. By 2024, our 2,500 X posts generated around 2 million impressions each month. Last year, our 1,500 posts earned roughly 13 million impressions for the entire year. To put it bluntly, an X…

An AEO strategy for SaaS won’t stray too far away from a good SEO strategy, but some tactics benefit AI search more than others, and it helps to know what these are. We all know that AI has shifted how brands earn visibility, and how visibility doesn’t equal clicks. But for SaaS, the way buyers conduct discovery and evaluation has changed disproportionately.

And since they used the same hardware, both neoclouds and traditional cloud providers are subject to the same shortage problem. Component suppliers are reporting significant shortages due to demand for AI data centers and Synergy sees neoclouds also experiencing delays just like traditional cloud providers. “Demand is currently outstripping supply,” said Dinsmore. “It will take a while before that starts to come into more balance.” Among neoclouds, CoreWeave stands out as the most direct challenger to traditional hyperscale cloud providers. Meanwhile, OpenAI and Anthropic represent a distinct but increasingly important category, and that is platform-centric providers offering cloud-like access to…

Researchers from RSAC have found a way to bypass the safety protocols of Apple’s Intelligence AI with a high success rate. Apple Intelligence is a deeply integrated personal intelligence system for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS that combines generative AI with personal context. It primarily processes tasks directly on Apple silicon via a compact on-device LLM. The AI draws on the user’s unique context (messages, photos, and schedules) to power practical features such as system-wide writing tools and Siri. For more complex reasoning, it offloads requests to larger foundation models via Private Cloud Compute (PCC) on Apple’s dedicated cloud infrastructure. Apple…

Google is narrowing the scope of its Performance Planner tool, signaling a shift toward conversion-focused campaign types and away from impression-based planning. What’s happening. As of last month Performance Planner no longer supports planning for Display and Video campaigns, and removes access to plans using impression share, top impression share or absolute top impression share metrics. Why we care. Google is deprioritizing impression-based planning, making it harder to forecast and optimize upper-funnel campaigns like Display and Video within native tools. This could mean a shift toward conversion-focused strategies and automation, meaning advertisers may need to rethink how they plan awareness…
