Some Teams users can’t join meetings after Edge update

Microsoft confirmed that a recent Microsoft Edge browser update introduced a bug that prevents Windows users from joining Teams meetings.

According to an incident report (tracked under TM1288497), this known issue affects only users who try to join scheduled meetings or meetings via links.

When it acknowledged the issue on Wednesday afternoon, Microsoft advised affected users that restarting the Teams client might help them work around it.

“We’ve identified that a recent Edge release introduced a regression that’s resulting in failures for some users when attempting to join meetings in Microsoft Teams,” it said. “While we work towards identifying the source of the regression within the recent Edge release to work towards developing fix to correct the issue, impacted users can restart their Microsoft Teams client to access meetings.”

At the moment, Microsoft is still analyzing diagnostic data and monitoring recent service changes to resolve the issues with joining Teams meetings.

“We’re furthering our investigation on the diagnostic data and monitoring recent service changes that may be contributing to the impact. We’ll provide a timeline of our next steps when one becomes available,” it added.

While it didn’t share how many users or which regions were affected, Microsoft classified this as an advisory, which usually applies to service issues with limited scope or impact.

Last week, the company warned that a recent Edge update introduced another bug that broke right-click paste in chats in the Microsoft Teams desktop client. As the company noted in a Tuesday update (TM1279908), a fix for the paste functionality issue will roll out to affected customers through the next scheduled platform update.

On Monday, Microsoft also reverted a recent service update that was blocking some customers from launching the Microsoft Teams desktop client and leaving them stuck on the loading screen with the “We’re having trouble loading your message. Try refreshing.” error message.

Microsoft is also working to address ongoing Universal Print sharing issues caused by a Microsoft Graph API code change that prevent users from creating printer shares.
