With a starting price of $2,000, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is already among the most expensive phones on sale in the US. Samsung’s attractive trade-in deals and offers help soften the blow, but it’s still a pricey purchase. And now, thanks to the ongoing DRAM and NAND crisis, the foldable has become even more expensive.

As spotted by 9to5Google, Samsung has raised the prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 512GB and 1TB variants by $80 — all without any announcement. At launch, the 512GB and 1TB configurations carried an MSRP of $2,119 and $2,419. Now, they are listed for $2,199 and $2,499.

For now, you can still get the 256GB Fold 7 at its original launch price of $2,000.

These prices are without any discounts. Samsung typically runs one promotional offer or another on its devices, so you should be able to get the Fold 7 at a lower price. For someone spending $2,200—$2,500, an additional $80 won’t break the bank or force them to consider other options.

Android flagships are only going to get more expensive

The price hike highlights how the ongoing DRAM and NAND supply crunch is forcing even Samsung to adjust the prices of its 2025 flagship foldable this late in its lifecycle. Plus, high-end devices have a higher margin, giving the company more room to absorb the increase in component prices. Yet, Samsung had to bump the Fold 7’s price, which shows just how bad the situation is.

While this is Samsung’s first notable price hike in the US, it has already increased the prices of most of its low-end and mid-range devices in other countries. In India, it has raised prices of its entry-level Galaxy A phones by $10-$20, which typically retail for around $120.

If you are looking to buy a Z Fold 7, it’s better to look at Amazon and other retailers, as they are discounting the device by $150–$200. The 256GB model is available for as low as $1,599, making it $400 cheaper than its MSRP.

For now, Samsung has spared the Galaxy S26 Ultra from this price hike. Even the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which launched alongside the Fold 7, remains unaffected. But it could only be a matter of time before the company is forced to bump up its MSRP as well to offset the higher component costs.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the best foldable you can buy in the US. It’s among the sleekest devices on sale, packing powerful internals, bright displays, and cutting-edge AI features.
