Google is no stranger to shocking users with surprise additions to apps, devices, and features that they didn’t really see coming, but its move in November last year felt less like a simple feature addition, and more like a major shift.

In November last year, Google, without any help from Apple, successfully rolled out native AirDrop compatibility for Quick Share across the Pixel 10 lineup.

The tech giant, subsequently, confirmed that Quick Share’s AirDrop support will eventually make its way to all Android devices.

Since then, the functionality has landed on the Pixel 9 series, and recent clues had made it very clear that the Galaxy S26 series would be next in line.

As it turns out, those clues were right on.

Rollout will start with the Galaxy S26 phones

The South Korean tech giant just announced the Quick Share update, bringing native AirDrop support for the Galaxy S26 series. Expect support to begin rolling out tomorrow, Monday, March 23, albeit only in Korea.

Support in the US is expected to commence later in the week, alongside Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.

As was the case with the Pixel rollout, AirDrop support will extend to older Galaxy models in the coming future. When exactly that happens remains to be seen.

On the other hand, unlike the Pixel 10 series, support on Galaxies will not be enabled by default. To enable the new feature, head to Settings > Connected Devices > Quick Share > toggle on “Share with Apple devices,” as seen in the short GIF above.
