Google’s March 2026 Pixel Feature Drop brought new bells and whistles not only to Pixel phones, but also to the Pixel Watch series.

Pixel wearables running the latest drop can now tell you if you left your phone behind, complete with more seamless payments with Express Pay.

However, it’s not all sunshine and roses.

An image of the Pixel Watch 2 strapped on, showing the time.

    Older builds work fine

The same build has given rise to SpO2 (blood oxygen) and skin temperature tracking bugs, with users reporting that said health metrics simply vanished from the Fitbit app.

Now, the plot is thickening. In addition to taking data away, the March update is also causing Pixel wearables to make data up, as pointed out by 9to5Google.

Over the last week and a half, users have reported that the Fitbit app is grossly overestimating user activity. Affected users are reporting their daily totals skyrocket, with some saying that the app is doubling their steps taken, mileage, and calories consumed, while others saying that their data has been tripled.

March update might not be the culprit

Today, my calories and step count is like tripled, simply impossible to burn 4000 kcal and do 14k steps sitting behind my desk the whole day. They need to fix it!

The exact reason behind the faulty stats is unknown, and while most suggest that the March Pixel Feature update caused the issue, users on older builds are seeing phantom stats too.

“I haven’t gotten the update (LTE) but my watch just announced that I hit 8000 steps today, which almost exactly double what it would normally be at this point in the day,” wrote one user, while a different one said “I’m noticing the same issue. No March update. Feels like something on the Fitbit side rather than update.”

For many, the gross miscalculation might not be a huge issue, but for those that are into fitness, or those that religiously track their steps and calories burnt, the bug marks a big failure on Google’s part.

Google is yet to acknowledge the issue, though considering how widely it seems to be affecting users, the tech giant should acknowledge it soon, potentially alongside a fix,
