Phones have already pretty much become the do-all devices in our pockets. It can handle the simple things like keeping us in touch with the people that matter most, while also being our one-stop shop for all our entertainment needs. And with AI now in the driver’s seat for a lot of companies, it’s only bound to make our mobile devices even more powerful, right?

So, where do we go from here?

For the past couple of years, companies have been developing and implementing AI tools and services into their products, hammering the point across that this is all beneficial for consumers. And while there are some interesting applications, some would argue that nothing’s really come of the technology as of yet.

So, it’s interesting that when Samsung was asked about vibe coding by TechRadar, the brand responded with, “Something we’re looking into.” The news outlet spoke with Won-Joon Choi, the current head of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) business, who also shared that “Right now we’re limited to premade tools, but with vibe coding, users could adjust their favorite apps or make something customized to their needs.”

While this all sounds interesting, it’s really something we need to see in practice before we can get on board. The ability to add popular features to the experience is endless. We’ve seen it time and time again, where brands add so much bloat and, for the most part, it really doesn’t do much for most people out there.

With that said, it’s not like Samsung is actively building or even testing a vibe coding feature for One UI at this point from what we know. But, Samsung has to come up with ideas while looking at the current and future landscape. The brand has been doing a fantastic job with its version of Android, making just the right adjustments to keep things fresh, while also adding some powerful new features.

Although we have no doubt that Samsung and other brands will continue to pursue what’s trending at the moment, it will be interesting to see how this all starts shaping devices and its software. Phones and tablets have long plateaued, but you never know there could be something interesting on the horizon.
